Enrolling
We warmly invite you to visit our centre to experience the environment, meet our team, and discuss your child’s individual needs. We’re confident that once you see our centre in action, you’ll feel right at home.
We recommend enrolling as early as possible, as spaces can be limited across our centres. Our enrolment process is simple and supportive – we’ll guide you through every step to make it easy and stress-free.
Joining our waitlist is free. Once a place is offered and accepted, a $75 non-refundable enrolment fee is required to secure your child’s space.
Starting
We understand that every child is unique, and settling into childcare is a different experience for each family. We work closely with you to ensure a smooth, positive transition for your child.
Prior to starting, we invite you and your child to attend two or more settling visits (approximately one hour each) during the week before commencement – these sessions are free of charge.
We recommend beginning with shorter sessions as your child settles, gradually building up to longer days when they feel ready. Our team will stay in close communication with you throughout this process, and we encourage you to reach out anytime for reassurance or updates.

Communication
Strong communication with families is at the heart of what we do. We keep you regularly updated through our online platform, Educa, along with email and our active Facebook community.
Each day, you’ll receive insights into your child’s experiences through our centre updates and daily learning stories on Educa – helping you stay connected and continue conversations at home.
We also host regular parent evenings and family events, including picnics, BBQ's, and celebrations, creating opportunities to connect with other families and be part of our community.
Learning Portfolios
Every child has their own personalised learning and development portfolio, available online through Educa and in hard copy within the centre.
A dedicated teacher is assigned to each child, documenting their learning journey, progress, and special moments. These portfolios are a meaningful record of your child’s time with us.
We encourage families to contribute and share in this journey. Portfolios can also be shared with extended family, creating a lasting and treasured keepsake.
Curriculum & Planning
Our programme is guided by Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s Early Childhood Curriculum, and is delivered through a predominantly play-based approach. Alongside child-led exploration, we incorporate meaningful daily routines such as shared mealtimes, music and movement, and group mat times for stories and connection.
As a mixed-age early learning centre, these routines are just as important as free play. Children learn alongside one another in a natural, family-like environment – much like siblings – building social skills, empathy, and confidence.
At Peekaboo, children are encouraged to explore a wide range of resources through both planned and spontaneous experiences. This creates authentic opportunities for learning and the development of lifelong skills. Our experienced teachers thoughtfully guide and extend children’s learning, ensuring the right balance between freedom and intentional teaching.
This balanced approach supports each child’s individual interests, while also drawing on the strength of our wider learning community – teachers and families working together. Our goal is for every child to leave us as a confident, capable, and self-motivated learner, ready for their ongoing educational journey.
We strongly believe that children are capable and active participants in their own learning. Our programme reflects this, empowering children to lead their unique learning journeys.
Our centre planning evolves organically, shaped by children’s interests and enriched through contributions from teachers and families. Learning is shared through our online platform, Educa, where each child has an individual portfolio. While all teachers contribute, each child is supported by a dedicated teacher who works closely with both the child and their family – ensuring goals are nurtured and strong communication and support networks are maintained.
